"When evolution selects its agents, it does so at a cost. It makes demands in exchange for singularity, and you may be asked to do something against your very nature. Suddenly, the change in your life that should have been wonderful comes as a betrayal. It may seem cruel, but the goal is nothing short of self-preservation, survival."
Heroes: One Giant Leap Chapter

Our first encounter with this Hero, although I would hardly call him a Hero, he was just another worker who was under-paid, under-trodden, forgotten and living with his mother. He worked as a watch repairer, after discovering he had the knack to find out what made things 'tick' so speak. He had always dreamed of being "special" and felt he never got the chance to shine.
He lived with his adopted mother (technically his auntie, his uncle abandoning them both when Gabriel was only young), who had a very unhealthy obsession with Snow Globes.

Having the power of intuitive aptitude, Sylar discovers he is able to see how abilities work in other "Evolved People" and uses that to gain more power for himself, unaware that there is now a "hunger" that is driving him forward. The FBI has classed Sylar as a serial killer. His victims have their heads sliced open horizontally at the center of their skull and their brain removed.
Sylar's activities have now been notified to The Company who are the hunt for him, however he is proving a very elusive prey and with each victim he gains more power and thus able to escape easier and quicker.

Mohinder Suresh, (a hero for a later date), discovers that Sylar and his father Chandra Suresh are somehow connected and decides he want to delve deeper. He discovers, to his horror, that his father has labeled Sylar as "Patient Zero" and that he helped him enhance and fine tune his ability. However Chandra saw the evil and thirst for power in Sylar and gave up on him. Sylar on the other hand was not one to take rejection lightly and so he hunted down one of chandra's other "subjects" (Brian Davis) and killed him thus gaining the power of Telekinesis
